Woodruffe Stables
Liz Tilley
Liz started Woodruffe in 2005, after fifteen years running livery yards in the Epsom area and in her native Devon. A BHSII, she has been riding for more than 35 years. Liz completed her training at a BHS yard in Somerset, then spent two years working with international show jumpers in Italy, before returning to the UK to set up her own yard.
A sympathetic and intuitive instructor, Liz specialises in helping individuals to get the best out of their horses. Clients at Woodruff who've benefited from Liz's relaxed and positive teaching style range from happy hackers to accomplished riders competing at affiliated dressage and show jumping.
Liz's big passion is show jumping, but she is now concentrating on her young dressage mare, who is by Sunny Boy. Her old show-jumper, Maysie, has just bred a lovely foal by Billy Congo - William Funnell's great hope for London 2012. She also enjoys re-schooling difficult or problem horses.
Emily Gibson - Head Girl
Liz's head girl, Emily, got her BHSAI at Wellington Riding Centre in Hampshire. She then joined William Fox-Pitt's yard in Dorset, grooming for him at the big 4* events. Emily lives on site and particularly enjoys bringing the young horses on, which she finds very rewarding.
The Team
Liz and Emily are supported by a team of six staff and working pupils. All the staff at Woodruffe are experienced at handling horses and are on hand to offer friendly, helpful advice or deal with any queries owners might have.
